Sketching with Street Dancers Volume 6 x Met Fest 2023
Saturday Oct 21 | Petrie Sculpture Court (Gallery 548)
2 sessions:
1:00-1:45 PM & 2:00-3:00 PM
Sketching with Street Dancers Volume 6 x MetFest 2023 is an observational drawing program that connects movement, mark making (drawing) and music.
Volume 6 consists of three guided drawing exercises designed for the audience to track, trace and transmit the shapes, lines, forms, space, textures and gestures created by the featured drawing models in motion. This event includes two sketching sessions.
Desire X, Jungle, Jai’Quin & Static are the featured drawing models for Volume 6. DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry will deliver the soundtrack. Noelle Salaun will demonstrate drawing techniques to convey the dancers’ movement on paper. Aurora Hidalgo will be guiding volume 6 as the timekeeper. Each drawing session will be followed by a gallery walk for sketchers and dancers to see the results of their collaboration in real time.
Sketching with Street Dancers was created by Lafotographeuse & is produced by Kut The Rug Institute.
Volume 6 is presented in partnership with Met Museum Education Department.
Sketching with Street Dancers will be held in Gallery 548, the Petrie European Sculpture Court.
The Met will provide paper, clipboards and pencils for all attendees to use to draw the dancers. The Met Sketching Policy
